Nikon D5 Campaign & The Nebraska Project
Introduction
In launching their new flagship camera, Nikon decided to highlight world famous photographers and influencers in the industry to put the tool through its paces.
One of the photographers, Bill Frakes, decided for his feature he’d create a series of small mix media documentaries focusing on his home state, Nebraska.

Goal
Nebraska is a place of cowboys and poets, buffalo and meadowlarks. It's a tapestry of land harnessed to be bountiful. A place that helps feed the world.
Our goal with this project was to show that the state is more than its “fly-over” status would indicate while shooting exclusively with the Nikon D5 to showcase the camera’s power and capabilities.
Process
Nebraska is 430 miles long and has 93 counties. To fully document it properly, we needed to schedule a multi-month shoot and find stories to fit the schedule. Plus, we needed to carve out specific shoots for testing the new Nikon cameras.
I supported story development, research and logistics, including travel arrangements, cultivating stories and content, creating itineraries, casting models, and securing locations, gear and wardrobe.
Once the shoots had concluded, I was the design lead for the branding of The Nebraska Project and built a website to showcase the many short films that had been produced.
Product
The Nebraska Project won 2nd place for National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Documentary Multimedia Package award.
The feature on the photographer and the short documentary appeared on Nikon’s website and in marketing collateral for the Nikon D5.
